Well-known singing sensation, Mi Casa, have pledge their support for the 2013 Cancer Association of South Africa’s (CANSA) 10th Shavathon by ‘lending’ one of their hit songs for TV and radio ads. ‘These Streets’ will be hitting it up on the CANSA Shavathon ads all over the country, in the build-up to the Shavathon of the decade. 2013 is the year in which CANSA Shavathon turns 10 years old. “We’re grateful to have their support and song to highlight this special 10th CANSA Shavathon. We hope that Shavathon 2013 will be the Shavathon of the decade and that it will help to unite the nation in the fight against cancer,” says Sue Janse Van Rensburg, CANSA CEO and cancer survivor of almost 30 years.

Formed in 2011, Mi Casa is a band with three individuals who bring their talent together to create a unique and original sound. The band members (Dr Duda, J-Something and Mo-T) blend their musical talent to create a soulful sound that incorporates soulful vocals, the guitar, keys and the trumpet. Their album titled Micasa Music, went gold quickly and won several awards at the 18th Annual MTN South Africa Music Awards in 2012. J-Something performed at the guests at the 2013 Ambassadors Inaugural Ball in the US in honour of US President Barack Obama. CANSA encourages everyone to take part from 25th February to 2 March 2013 at their workplace or at a shopping centre by shaving, spraying, stencilling or gelling hair for a R50 donation (kids under 12, only R25). “We also introducing for the first time, colour gel for those wanting a funky hair-do”, concluded Janse van Rensburg.
