Entertainment powerhouse MTV (DStv Channel 130) is offering up-and-coming South African creatives the chance to kickstart their careers in broadcast and design. Starting 3 July 2013, the iconic youth channel is launching MTV Art Beat, a project designed to uplift, nurture and empower South African creative talent. MTV Art Beat invites existing or recently graduated design students to push their artistic and technical limits by creating a video clip or short film that embodies and characterizes the MTV brand. Each clip must include the legendary MTV logo in some shape or form, and illustrate one of the following themes:
• Smart and Fun is the New Rock ‘n’ Roll
• Super-Now and Fast Forward
• Warm is the New Cool
• Celebrate Heroes Big and Small
The MTV Art Beat competition is open to applicants between 18-25 who are students at South African tertiary education institutions or recently graduated students in South Africa who have been working in the broadcast/content industry for less than two years. The top clips will be broadcast on MTV (DStv Channel 130) from 2 September 2013, and the ultimate winner will also receive a six-week internship at MTV HQ in Johannesburg, providing them with an opportunity to work and learn alongside well-known industry experts at the world famous multimedia brand.

The winner of the MTV Art Beat competition will be chosen by MTV and a panel of judges the film, media, broadcast and creative industries. To submit your MTV Art Beat entry, please send a video clip of between 15-30 seconds duration on a CD or flash drive to Pippa Tshabalala, Viacom International Media Networks Africa, 1 Saxon Road, Hyde Park, Johannesburg. Clips must be in one of the following:
• Quicktime.MOV format
• PRORES 422(HQ) 1920X1080
• XDCAM HD1080i50 (50Mb/s).
