The MTV Base VJ Search hits Cape Town this Saturday on 20 July so there’s still plenty of time to hone your presenting skills, brush up on your music knowledge and check that you’re looking your best. Thousands of young hopefuls are expected to attend the auditions in the Main Promo Court, Tyger Valley Shopping Centre, Bellville, in the hope of becoming the brightest new face of MTV Base. Just a few minutes in front of the producers could be all it takes to set you on a path to a dream gig in entertainment: a fantastic job presenting a show on music and youth channel worth over ZAR 500,000. The lucky winner will also drive away in a fabulous DS3 Cabrio, courtesy of Citroën, worth a cool ZAR 315,000.
The Spanking New host Nomuzi Mabena (@NoMoozlie) will be joined by singing sensation Jimmy Nevis at the auditions. Initial callbacks will be held at The African Pride 15 on Orange Hotel on Sunday 21 July in front of judges Sizwe Dhlomo (@SizweDhlomo), Joey Rasdien (@joeyrasdien), Bonang Matheba (@Bonang_M) and Good Hope FM’s DJ Loyd. The three Cape Town qualifiers will be announced on Monday 22 July.
Registration for the auditions starts from 9:00 am on Saturday 20 July. Applicants are encouraged to be on-site early as auditions will take place on a first-come, first-served basis. Applicants must be South African residents between the ages of 18-25 with fluent English and no criminal record. Prior presenting or TV experience is not required. Applicants must bring valid ID with them and be available to participate in the elimination phases of the competition between 30 July and 7 August.
