Simmy receives plaque celebrating her platinum and Gold success for four songs taken from her debut album, Tugela Fairy
SAMA winner and now platinum-selling recording artist Simmy, is adding more trophies to her collection. She was surprised with a platinum plaque for her hit single Umahlalela.

The surprise happened on the Kaya 959 Top 30 Show this past weekend. During an in-studio interview with chart show presenter DJ Keyez, Simmy was caught off guard with an in-studio plaque handover by record label Sony Music, celebrating her platinum success on her Umahlalela single.
Taking to Instagram, Simy shared the news with her fans and thanked them for their constant support. You guys stay loving me! To each & every person involved, thank you! “, she wrote.

Simmy also received additional gold plaques for her Ubala, Ngiyesaba and Nawe singles. All of these songs was taken from her critically acclaimed and award winning 2018 debut album, Tugela Fairy. The album also saw her nominated for Newcomer of the Year and Best Female Vocalist at the 2019 SAMA’s where she won an award for the latter. She also nominated for Best Afro Pop album but ended walking away with Record of the Year with Sonini alongside Sun-El Musician and Lelo Kamau.
The heartwarming moment was captured on video at the Kaya 959 studio in Johannesburg. DJ Keyez is the popular host of the new Kaya 959 Top30, Saturdays from 12 – 3pm.
