It is with this passion that Nando’s, in partnership with Bridges For Music, presents a new restaurant experience aimed at delivering a thrilling customer journey through the Nando’s Music Showcase “Basha in Casa”. Basha in Casa is inspired by the annual Basha Uhuru festival, which is fired up by Nando’s and celebrates both the arts and the youth. It is just the perfect way to kick off Youth Month!
The first showcase took place this past Sunday at Nando’s Maponya Mall in Soweto where guests were treated to live performances by three incredible music talents Sio, Wenawedwa, and Aymos. The vocal and DJ performances created an electric atmosphere aimed at giving Nando’s guests an experiential sit-down meal. The event was a great success and saw a TikTok content creator and budding musician go from being a guest to closing act. Prince PD Jokes Dube, in elevator pitch style, asked organisers if he could perform his popular single “Wena wedwa”. He received an enthusiastic yes and got the crowd dancing. Certainly one for the books.
“Nando’s is passionate about nurturing and showcasing South African creativity, and Basha in Casa is just another vehicle for us to do this”
Nontobeko Sibiya, Marketing Manager: Communications at Nando’s South Africa says, “South Africa is rich in incredibly talented musicians, artists, and designers. Nando’s is passionate about nurturing and showcasing South African creativity, and Basha in Casa is just another vehicle for us to do this. Through the years, we’ve shown our commitment to making a difference in the lives of creative people. These music showcases are an extension of that commitment while at the same time providing a fiery experience for our guests.”
The artists who performed at Nando’s Maponya Mall are all musical forces who have enjoyed successes in their genres. Sio is both a vocalist and DJ, affectionately dubbed the ‘career builder,’ by fellow long-time collaborator, Kid Fonque, her collaborations have catapulted many names. Aymos worked with DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small on the smash hit single Emcimbini in 2020.
Emcimbini was the biggest song in the country when it was released and it further solidified Aymos as a force to be reckoned with in the industry. Wenawedwa has graced many stages, including the Basha Uhuru Creative Festival. She was also a participant in the BridgeFire programme which took place at Flame Studios in Constitution Hill and was fired up by Nando’s.
The “Basha in Casa” experiences allow guests to tuck into their favourite meals, including delicious platters and refreshing designer drinks, while enjoying sweet melodies from local musicians. An all-around relaxed vibe. Be sure to look out for the next Nando’s Music Showcase experiences.
