Third Lane Flows is a musical offering by Luke, a hip hop artist from Pietermaritzburg. The young rapper has put himself in a unique position of becoming the flag bearer for the city’s hip hop scene.
The EP dropped on the 4th of May 2018 and since then it has been getting a lot of positive reviews. When asked what was the inspiration behind the project Luke mentioned that he has always been someone who bottled his emotions and was not good at expressing himself so making music has enabled him to find an outlet for his emotions.
He first got first exposed to the music scene while doing dancing as a hobby with friends. “One of my friends asked me to write and record a “hook” for his track. The track made rounds in the hood and it got good reviews. That’s when I started working with a local Producer Louie Van Wolf,” he writes. This resulted in a mixtape they released together titled Fully Half Broken in 2017.
His aim with the Third Lane Flows is to bring about something different into the music industry with different sounds and concepts for his songs that people can relate to. And he did just that.
Third Lane Flows is a comprehensive body of work which sounds fresh and new. His lyrics are reflective of his surroundings, relatable day to day situations and it compels you to feel something. Plus the beats are mellow and well made.
