We stay finding the freshest up and coming voices and today is no different. All round music creative, Owethu, just released his debut EP, Strawberry Moon and it is worth checking out.
Owethu Okuhle Mtya, alternatively known as OhGooch is a South African, Gugulethu raised all round music creative. Born in 1992, early in his childhood years he showcased growing his talents as a music producer, song writer, vocalist and qualified sound engineer.
He has worked and featured with acts like Gemini Major, Patoranking, Tellaman, SimmySimmyNya, Black Slim and Phresh Clique to name a few. He was also a part of Fife Avenue, a collective that has been turning the tide within the perceived limitations of the Cape Town music scene. They have worked with renowned local and international acts like Mos Def, AKA, Nasty C, Gemini Major and Youngsta CPT among many others.
Owethu recently dropped a 3 track EP titled Strawberry Moon. The offering is a beautiful balance of sounds and mixes Trap Soul, R&B and hip hop elements. Owethu’s voice is smooth and serene and it matches the subject matter of the music.
“This EP was meant for expression more than anything else. It speaks about matters that aren’t spoken about or are looked over in the local music industry,” he writes. He continues to write that plenty of people are suffering from depression but will never be able to speak up because of the society we live in.
The EP also delves into themes of relationships and trust but also finding yourself amidst all of it. “My intentions ain’t to get it to the top at all. Just to be the voice for those who can’t speak up. Letting people know that they not alone and it’s okay to speak out and/or express,” he writes.

NEW MUSIC: Tribal Drops Debut Single, Going In
Durban based singer, songwriter and fashion designer, Tribal, has broken his silence on his depression with official debut single titled Going In.
Known for the 2015 smash single A Week Ago featuring Aewon Wolf; the single that should have been a great launch into the music industry turned out to be the start of a three-year battle with depression for this young creative.
“I had quit music. I was down, out and angry. Aewon Wolf was popping off my song. All the people I had done features with blocked me. I felt used, even exploited” shares Tribal. Tribal further adds:
“I’m now motivated to keep going no matter what. Going In is a song about my commitment to myself to go all the way in.”
Going In is already enjoying radio airplay across the country on stations such as Metro FM, Gagasi FM and YFM since its release this past Friday. the single features Tribal doing what he does best and that is singing. But the twist is,he is doing it over a Trap influenced beat with other RnB and Pop elements.
As the music industry gears up for the silly season, Going In has been pegged to be a track that will usher music lovers right through the Summer and festive season.
