It is always fulfilling for an artist to know that their music has the power to touch people’s hearts, and Coco SA is optimistic that this single will achieve just that.
Here’s what Coco SA had to say about the single:
- Can you tell us what inspired you to create Wahamba and what the song represents for you?
Wahamba is a story about love and loss—about someone walking away and the emotions that follow. It’s personal but also something a lot of people can relate to. The song represents that bittersweet feeling of moving on, where the pain and the beauty of the memories exist at the same time. - Featuring Sipho Magudulela, Ssips, and NeleSa on this track is exciting! How did these collaborations shape the final sound of Wahamba?
Each of them brought something unique to the song. Sipho Magudulela’s signature bass gives it depth and soul, while Ssips’ voice carries so much texture and emotion. NeleSa has this amazing ability to make lyrics feel alive. Their contributions took Wahamba to a different level—it became more than just a song; it became an experience. - What was the production process like for Wahamba? Were there any challenges you faced while creating this song?
It was a beautiful process, but not without challenges. The biggest one was making sure we balanced the soulful house and amapiano elements perfectly. I wanted the song to have a strong groove but also retain that deep, emotional feel. We spent a lot of time refining the arrangement and making sure every sound had its place. - Wahamba is described as a love song. What emotions or stories are you hoping to convey through the single?
I want people to feel the nostalgia and the raw emotions of the song. It’s about love, heartbreak, and reflection. It’s that moment when you realize someone is really gone, but the feelings still linger. Whether you’ve been through it or not, the song should take you on a journey. - After the success of your debut single I Never Thought, what pressure, if any, did you feel while working on Wahamba?
There’s always pressure after a successful release because people have expectations. But I try not to overthink it. Instead, I focus on making music that feels right to me. Wahamba was about telling a story and making something people can connect with—it wasn’t about chasing another hit. - How do you feel you’ve grown as an artist since your debut single?
I’ve definitely grown in terms of my sound and my confidence as a producer. With every track, I learn something new—whether it’s about structuring a song, layering sounds, or just trusting my instincts more. I’ve also learned how important storytelling is in music. - How important is fan feedback to you, and what have you learned from your audience since your journey began?
It’s everything! The fans are the ones who take the music and give it life. Their feedback helps me understand what connects with them, but also reminds me to stay true to myself. I’ve learned that people love authenticity—they want music that makes them feel something real. - The single drops on March 7th. How are you feeling leading up to this release, and what do you hope listeners take away from it?
Excited, nervous, all of it! Every release is like letting a piece of yourself out into the world. I just hope people feel the emotion in the song and connect with it in their own way. Whether it’s on the dancefloor or in a quiet moment, I want Wahamba to leave an impact. - What can fans expect from you in the future, and how does Wahamba fit into the evolution of your music?
More music, more collaborations, and definitely more growth. Wahamba is a glimpse of where I’m going—blending deep, soulful sounds with amapiano in a way that feels fresh. There’s a lot more coming, and I can’t wait to share it with the world.
Coco SA’s single “Wahamba” is more than just a release, it is a heartfelt exploration of love, loss, and the process of moving on. The rich collaboration with Sipho Magudulela, Ssips, and NeleSa has transformed the song into a layered musical piece that covers complex emotions many people face in their lives.
