The Drumboss has not been letting us rest neh? He has been churning hits left, right and centre like butter. Having worked with talented vocalists such as Mpumi, Professor, Naak MuisiQ and many more, the popular DJ is back with his much anticipated 3rd album, 1950. The album is dedicated to his mother who was born in 1950 and passed on last year.
The new album is a 25-track effort, which features the talents of Busiswa, Mpumi and Nokwazi, to name a few. You can expect Heavy K’s signature heavy bass and plenty of African influenced percussion with hints of Kwaito elements.
From the album, Thabile featuring Thulasizwe Nkosi and M’bizeni featuring Nokwazi, are the only songs that I have heard and judging by these tracks, this album is a must listen to.
He also has a track with Thulasizwe called Ziyamporoma and this is the track that had dance floors lit across the country. The video opens with Heavy K speaking on the phone and inviting Thula to his place, since he is having a party.
The shot then follows him where he leads us to a bunch of fly mamis in the pool, excited at the news that Thula will be pulling through. Shot by UpRooted Media, the video is a feast of greens, whites and golds served via crisp and high quality images. The high life is clearly shown off here with expensive cars, expensive liquor and a mansion.
