Eastern Cape born rapper NATE just dropped the visuals for his widely loved song Friendzone. When he dropped this song, we were all in awe of the fact that he got the legendary Zola 7 to jump on it and feature in the song. It was even better when we realized what a gem the song is and how the message of the song is relatable.
Unlike his previous hits Shisa Bhe and Mandisa which were turn-up hits, Friendzone is a sentimental love song about a man who is heart broken hearted because of unrequited love. NATE plays the dude who has been put in the friendzone by a girl that he is really into in the video. To make things worse, the girl plays with his feelings and breaks his heart even further. And the video follows this story line. It seems to me that the girl was not having any of it and poor NATE is walking around with a broken heart the entire video.
What is so endearing about this song is how NATE was able to translate the feelings that he expresses in the song in the video. You an literally feel his heart break when he sees the girl ditch him for a guy with a sports car.
The response to the video has been great, check out some tweets below!
