Any Minute Now features Samthing Soweto, Anthony Hamilton, HHP, Busiswa, Langa Mavuso and many more, bringing the number of featured artists to 21.  Coming in at 21 tracks, Any Minute Now is such a refreshing look into Cassper Nyovest’s current state of mind. He speaks honestly about the things that he has been going through publicly for these past couple of years. Touching on the importance of family, wanting to provide for his unborn son, his beefs in the industry but mostly his spirituality as he strives to become a better version of himself.

Cassper Nyovest does a bit of everything on Any Minute Now

Sonically, Any Minute Now explores a little bit of everything and it is a true reflection of Cassper’s penchant for variety. He raps on practically every beat variation we’ve heard him on in the past, with the exception of Amapiano. He raps his heart out over a Kwaito tempo on Ses’fikile featuring Phantom Steeze and Boom Bap on Egyptian Cotton alongside Anthony Hamilton.

On Hypnotize and Good For That, he also touches on a modified Trap beats while taking us to the highs and lows of his relationships on the R&B inspired on How Does IT Feel featuring Langa Mavuso. Cass even taps into a Jazz inspired vibe on Friday Night with Samthing Soweto, sampling Brenda Fassie’s Weekend Special. But perhaps one of the most notable moments of the album is the Nyuku Remix where Cass features the original cast of Motswako and reminds us of the great movement that made him.

If first impressions count, then I am of the opinion that Any Minute Now is not insipid at all. Instead he uses this album to explore a wide range of emotional textures, most of which resonate with us on a deeper level.
