Yanga Chief Drops new single BBAF and launches Pre-Order for upcoming album Pop Star
Yanga Chief announced the release date for his upcoming Pop Star on Monday and today, the award winning rapper releases the first joint from the project. Titled BBAF, the new song launches the pre-order for his upcoming album Pop Star due for release on the 27th of November.
Even though the title of the song suggests that the song is about SA female rapper Boity, the record showcases Yanga’s incredible Xhosa influenced rap cadence. It deep dives into how he perceives the industry and his position in it. He positions himself as the godfather of the SA Hip Hop industry that deserves the cream of the crop, when it comes to the culture.

After announcing the new single Yanga Chief revealed an iconic cover for his eagerly awaited album Known for celebrating his Xhosa royalty, Yanga Chief collaborated with praised South African designer, Laduma Ngxokolo, of MXHOSA on a ‘masklava’ (a combination of a mask and a balaclava) piece for the cover of Pop Star.

Pop Star comes a year after he released his award winning project BAPS. An album which critics claim to be his greatest work yet.
At the start of the month, the uTatakho rapper had a heartfelt interview with Riky Rick on his podcast, LAB LIVE, that brought both the rappers and fans to tears with the star later tweeting that, the making of this album saved his life.
