Multi-award winning hip hop artist, Kwesta, has won the coveted Song Of The Year for Ngud’ featuring Cassper Nyovest at the annual South African Hip Hop Awards (SAHHA) which took place at the Lyric Theatre, Gold Reef City on 14 December 2016. Kwesta’s Song Of The Year win is highly appropriate as Ngud’ is a platinum selling single and is one of SA’s most played song on radio, maintaining the number #1 position on the Top 100 Playlist Chart for 11 consecutive weeks, and the Ngud’ music video has garnered well over 3.2 million views.
Kwesta’s accolade comes shortly after having his album, DaKAR II, selected by iTunes and Apple Music as this year’s winner of the Album of the Year for South Africa. Since its release in February 2016, DaKAR II has reached multiple milestones including Platinum sales certification and the album remained in the Top 10 iTunes chart for 10 consecutive weeks upon its release. Kwesta’s latest single Mayibabo is currently the most played hip hop song on SA radio – featuring DJ Maphorisa, DJ Buckz & OkMalumKoolkat. Mayibabo is Kwesta’s fourth single off DaKAR II to peak in the Top 5 RAMS chart.
