Amapiano songstress Nia Pearl has recently released her highly anticipated debut EP, ‘Nia Lo’. This self-titled EP marks a significant moment in her music career, reintroducing herself and reclaiming her place in the music scene.
Nia Pearl’s journey in the music industry began after graduating in 2014. Since then, she has been working tirelessly to share her voice and message. Her first breakthrough came with the feature single ‘Nia Lo’ in 2020, a collaboration on amapiano heavyweight Kabza De Small’s debut album. Released during lockdown, the single was an introduction to her artistry and solidified her place in the Amapiano scene. “I was intentional about the song and how I wrote the song mirrored my intention of introducing myself and solidifying my presence in the industry. So I felt it fitting that I name my debut EP after that song. It’s ‘Nia Lo’ by Nia Pearl”
After a brief hiatus, New Money Gang Records, first lady Nia Pearl enchanted music lovers once again with the release of her lead single ‘Enchanted Mantra’ on the 31st of July 24, teaming up with Amapiano maestro Kelvin Momo and together they featured the emerging talent, private school Amapiano producer Stixx and rising vocalist Mzizi. ‘Enchanted Mantra’ has since garnered over 200k streams worldwide.
Kicking off the countdown to the EP’s release was the soulful single ‘Enchanted Mantra’ a 13-minute musical journey that takes fans and music lovers on a captivating ride through Nia Pearl’s musical universe. ‘Enchanted Mantra’ showcases Nia Pearl’s undeniable vocal talent as she takes the lead in the single with Mzizi holding his own, complimenting her well.
“I met Kelvin in 2020 and we had planned to work on something, and it just never seemed to happen until last year. I think it’s so amazing that it happened that way because, the very first session we had, we recorded so many beautiful songs. On that day we recorded; ‘Amalobolo’, ‘Mehlomadala’ on Babalwa’s album and we recorded some other songs that will probably be on his next project. It was beautiful, the timing was right, and the energies were correct, and we were in sync.” Nia Pearl speaks on the day ‘Enchanted Mantra’ was recorded.
Known for her ability to seamlessly blend traditional Amapiano sounds with contemporary influences, Nia Pearl shares the feeling of the EP; ‘I’m pretty much a versatile musician. In this specific project I am highlighting a certain element to me. My spirituality, my dreams, the things I have conquered and the fears that I have worked passed and what I am working towards.’ ‘Nia Lo’ serves not only as a musical journey but also as a re-introduction to Nia Pearl. Each track on the EP reflects her evolution as an artist and her deep connection to self and to the Amapiano genre.
