Thick Leeyonce, real name Lesego Legobane, made international headlines on social media yesterday after shutting down a body shaming troll on Twitter. Many will know the model and photographer as a prolific thick girls activist in Mzansi.

It all started when the Twitter handle, Leyton Mokgerepi (@ImLeyton) posted this unsavory meme which used a photo of Thick Leeyonce – and indirectly threw shade at the model’s body.

In it, he placed Thick Leeyonce against a thinner woman, South African-based and Congolese-born supermodel, Joelle Kayembe, and captioned it, “Girls that I like vs Girls that like me“. This did not go down well with Thick Leeyonce who retaliated with a simple, yet effective, “I don’t like you” tweet.
The clapback crossed borders, garnering thousands of retweets and likes including from international rapper, Nicki Minaj, American singer, Ariana Grande, comedian and The Real talk show host Loni Love and our very own commander-in-chief, EFF’s Julius Malema.
Thick Leeyonce ended up trending as far up as Canada with many international online magazines and news sites featuring her fiery response. Mzansi also took the mickey out of Leyton’s tweet and threw shade of their own – quickly putting him in his place!
