#OOTD Goes To Gugu Gumede
Who can resist the luxurious feel of a unique Ankara wax print? Or the smoldering embrace a flattering Dashiki always seems to have against your melanated African body?
Or how about that stylish and always complimentary Kente fabric that encourage heads to turn with every move it makes? This is the marvel of the African print and the power and beauty of contemporary African couture.
African print always raises the fashion stakes when worn and we love that our celebrities know and embrace this. Every Tuesday, we hail the best African print wearing star and crown them with our outfit of the day crown for having repped Mzansi and Africa in the most fashionable of ways. Today’s star is the gorgeous Uzalo actress, Gugu Gumede who plays the character of Ma’Mlambo on the SABC 1 drama.
The glamorous beauty knows how to lay it down thick when it comes to traditional and African print – so much so that she’s gaining the name “African Goddess” on her social media platforms. We spotted Gugu in this striking square neck African print dress in red florals.
The slitted, three-quarter sleeve number is designed with dramatic shoulders that naturally flatter the wearer’s silhouette. Her shoe choice was casual flops and she added a head wrap that matched her ensemble. Her accessories – a bracelet and long fringe earrings in the same outfit hue – were simple and complementary.
We love Gugu’s African print look and definitely hail it our #OOTD winner this week. Do you agree?
