While we don’t know what’s going on with our weather, we do guarantee that our outfit of the day feature will at least heat things up for us, even if just for a bit! Every Tuesday, we honour celebrities donned in traditional attire and pay homage to African couture.
This overcast Tuesday in Jozi, we bestow our coveted #OOTD crown to Uzalo actress and Ukhozi FM radio host, Sthandwa Gama, née Nzuza who wore this great looking cultural attire.
The personality, who just recently got married into the Swati culture, wore this Swati inspired traditional attire shortly after her wedding. She looked regal in the traditional Swazi attire made up of the popular umhelwane (large fabric knotted on left side of the shoulder; a sdvwaba (black pleated skirt made of cow hide) and sidziya (a black apron-like dress made from goat skin, which is only worn by married women).
She finished off her royal look with the ever-so-popular sicholo, a beehive shaped headdress made of hair and animal hide sandals. Her accessories were a simple beaded neckpiece and bracelet in a coral hue.
What do you think of Sthandwa’s outfit as our winning #OOTD? Do let us know.
