The beat doesn’t quite drop on Khuli Chana’s latest single Ichu featuring Cassper Nyovest
Motswako rapper, Khuli Chana returns to the music scene with a new single alongside Cassper Nyovest titled Ichu. The collaboration between these two Maftown artists is what had fans excited and highly anticipating the single because it would be the first time the two are on a joint together since All Hail.
Ichu is an experimental song which is not quite Motswako or Trap. It is a mixture of Kwaito, Hip Hop and House music. It almost sounds like we are picking up from Chana’s One Source EP which played in the realm of unconventional beats and arrangements of the sound.
The beat on Ichu sounds hollow and almost unfinished. It actually sounds like it is playing on one long loop with little variation in the pace of the song. There is not much dynamism in how the song carries itself but it honestly doesn’t bother us much because the elements in the beat stand out.
The hook alone is infectious and energetic. Enter Khuli Chana’s charm and Cassper’s appeal. Both artists deliver very spirited performances. This is actually besides the fact that they sound similar making it difficult to distinguish who is who. Maybe this was done on purpose or maybe not.
The fans are split with some plainly calling it trash while others hailed it’s brilliance. Have you heard it?
Ichu is the first single from Khuli Chana’s upcoming album, Planet of the Have Nots. Stream and purchase it on all major digital stores.
