Born Dominic Muembo in Johannesburg, South Africa, Producer and Rapper Savio was first drawn to music at the tender age of 6 and took a special interest in the genre of hip-hop by the age of 13. Being inspired by quintessential lyricists and producers such as Nas, Lupe Fiasco, Elzhi, Pete Rock, and J. Dilla, Savio had the resolve to blur the line between Artist and Producer and honed his craft to become a fully-fledged hybrid of both mediums.
Savio’s journey into producing music started in his late teens and has been evolving ever since. With the hopes of mastering his craft, he went on to study sound engineering at the Cape of Audio Engineering in order to have an intricate understanding of the music production process. Now that he is able to produce a wide array of genres, ranging from Hip-Hop and RNB to Future Beats and Electronic Soul, constant innovation and the creative merging of eclectic genres are all part of his creative process.
Following the release of His debut instrumental EP, titled Golden, Savio has his sights set on the release of his second EP, Bohemian Underground. Described as a step up from his debut, Bohemian Underground looks to blend alternative musical timbres with mainstream grooves to create a body of work that is truly unique and sonically set apart. Featuring well-established artists such as Monthati Masebe and Nori Lani to exciting up-and-coming prospects such as Groovy, Mac the Monk, and DomZa, there’s a song to grab the attention of listeners across all genres, from Lo-Fi to Hip-Hop.
For this record, Savio teams up with the alternative neo-soul band Rudo Nungo. Featuring daft punk-esque French House vocal chops, syncopated upbeat drum grooves, and a warm analog bass line, the song is held together by a crisp vocal performance given by both members of Rudo Nungo.
