On 3rd August 2013, the Sandton Convention Centre was transformed into a labyrinth of surprises as it became host to the Ultimate Redd’s Door Experience. A thousand invited guests including several of South Africa’s A-listers namely Jay Anstey, Pearl Thusi, SImba Mhere, Dineo Ranaka, Andile Ncube, Lunga Shabalala and Boity Thulo were taken on a virtual journey around the world as Redd’s surprised them with world experiences.
The event was a platform to launch Redd’s new product variant: Redd’s Bold Crisp. Guests received a full-rounded VIP treatment were swept into a three dimensional world that virtually transported them to three cities in the world; London, Rio de Janeiro and Los Angeles. The venue itself became the background to an experiential component, as it was transformed via projection mapping into a sensory 3D landscape creating an experience as the streets of London, the carnival parades of Rio and the crisp parties of L.A were brought to life.
Already enthralled, the guests’ experience was complemented by various unexpected surprises, including the appearance of a look-alike Queen of England being escorted through the room by her guards, a colourful samba parade dancing to the beat of First Project’s drums and a performance by hip-hop star Da LES. He was later joined on stage by AKA for a surprise performance.
Although guests were transported to these destinations, the night was nevertheless a celebration of South African musical talent, and included performances from iFani, Drum Machine, Newton’s 2nd Law, Jack Ross, Blacklace Acapella and Classy Menace.
However, the ultimate surprise came when Redd’s revealed their new Open up the World campaign that will run from 3rd August until 30th May 2014 and will give 3 lucky Redd’s consumers the opportunity to win an all-expenses-paid trip for them and 3 friends to London, Rio de Janeiro or L.A. One lucky guest at the Ultimate Redd’s Door Experience became an early winner when Anele Mdoda announced that he won a ticket to Rio de Janeiro, courtesy of Redd’s.
