Following on from his debut single, Seven 45, off his EP Chandeliers, Ross Jack is here with “Notes from the Wild”. Continuing his winning streak that he started with Seven 45, Ross scored a 5FM and Goodhope FM #1 with the first single off Notes, “TV’s in the Swimming Pool”. With the follow up single “Home Safe”, featuring rising German-based star Kat Vinter already off to an awesome start, Ross Jack is set to score a hat trick of hits.
Born in South Africa and raised between South Africa, Spain and the UK, Ross Jack’s international roots come through in his polished, cosmopolitan, urban sound. With Notes from the Wild being a cross-continental collaborative project, Ross went over to London to work with renowned producer, Pete “Boxsta” Martin (Sugababes / Jessie J.), and came back with a bag of hits. “Working with Pete was one of the greatest musical experiences I’ve ever had. Although I did a bit of everything on the album and really stretched myself, it was also great to do some co-producing and collaborating when it came to composition and production,” says Ross Jack of the production process on the album.
Aside from working with Pete and Ross’s right-hand man in production, DonJuan, Notes from the Wild hosts a list of the who’s-who in the South African music industry, including Riot, Chianosky, Zues and Adam Howard on Brass. Ross chose to call his album Notes from the Wild, “…because I liked the name and it lends itself to many different interpretations. It’s a play on the world and the state that it’s in. People have this automatic association with the wild when they think of Africa, but really, we all live in the wild.”
