Rouge’s short film wins a SAFTA

Rapper Rouge took the Best Micro Budget Film award for the New Era Sessions Film at the SAFTA’s in Sun City last night. The film which accompanies Rouge’s debut album features entertainment heavyweights, Atandwa & Fikile Kani, the inimitable Denise Zimba and a debut appearance from Cassius Davids, depicts the story of a young woman on her journey of self-discovery. The production is an immersion into her experiences as she deals with the highs and lows of falling in love, the delight of true friendship and the bitterness of betrayal.

I am humbled and honoured to have received this level of recognition from the South African Film and Television Industry. It is an incredible accomplishment for not only me but for the incredible team that supported me and worked alongside me to bring my vision to life. As a woman artist, I am proud to help pave the way for future female artists to find their voice

said Rouge.

In the hope of making the film more accessible to her audience, Rouge has decided to release the film in four “chapters” on YouTube. The first part of the four-part YouTube series can be viewed here
