I was at Taboo in Sandton again this past weekend only this time I was covering something a little out of the ordinary, it was the Black Coffee owned Soulistic Music Sai & Ribatone here & now album launch. If you are a house music fan then you might remember a soulful track back in 2007/8 called “Sunday showers” produced by Sandile Mavuso aka Sai and Mahlatse Riba aka Ribatone who together go by the name of Sai & Ribatone.
The duo decided to drop an album titled “here & now” and this event was one of many of which they have been hosting for the past few months in order to promote it. They kicked off the show with my favourite song from their debut album which also happens to be their first single called “tonite” and the live performance was great as Ribatone sang it while playing the keyboard live.
They were joined on stage by their fellow Soulistic member Thiwe whom they feature on an inspirational melody called “avenue of dreams”, this woman was born to be a performer there is no uncertainty about that, she serenaded the crowd with her sugary poignant voice.
Sai & Ribatone have been on the ground massaging music lovers with their skillful musical touches for a number of years and I feel that they are a little underrated at the moment but mark my words I have no doubt in my mind that not only are they going to rock the country but I think they are going to take the international rock community by storm if they haven’t done so already.
