16 March 2013 Winners of the second night of the 7th Annual South African Film and Television Awards were announced at a prestigious ceremony held at Gallagher Estate in Midrand on Saturday the 16th of March 2013.The second instalment of the SAFTAs 2013 was hosted by comedian and TV personality Nik Rabinowitz and actress Connie Ferguson. The proceedings began with a thrilling act by 2012 Idols winner Khaya Mthethwa, award winning Zakes Bantwini and medley of Zaki Ibrahim while award winning group Mafikizolo had the guests up in their feet as a closing act.
The high profile list of guests included Ministry of Arts and Culture, Women, Children and Persons with Disability Deputy Minister Hendrietta Bagopane-Zulu, Limpopo MEC for Arts and Culture Pinkie Kekana, Mpumalanga MEC for Arts, Culture, Sports and recreation Sibongile Manana, North West MEC for Public Works Raymond Elisha, USA High Commissioner Virginia Palmer, NFVF Council Chairperson Mmabatho Ramagoshi, NFVF CEO Zama Mkosi, Director Generals, CEOs of public and private entities and broadcasters, as well as film and television industry figures.
The highlight and a great surprise for the night was Samuel L Jackson, who together with NFVF Council Chairperson Mmabatho Ramagoshi presented the best actress in a feature film award. The Best actress in a feature award film was won by Lindiwe Ndlovu, for Little One. Jackson is in town shooting his latest movie, Kite.
The night awards ceremony was broadcast live on SABC 3 at 17:30. Mzansi Magic and Top TV will broadcast edited versions of the awards at later dates.
