Although the theory of social comparison suggests that it is only natural, more often than not, comparison results in a negative effect on our self image. However, in the times where we find ourselves comparing it’s important to remember that in the end life was not meant for competition. Instead, its all about walking and living in your own journey in order to truly be happy and build a sense of self-confidence.

Cut Back on Social Media

Feeding into the first point, it is also advisable that you limit social media use because all too often we find ourselves scrolling through our feeds while secretly comparing our lives with what we see on social media. Therefore cutting back on the hours spent online could do your confidence and happiness levels some great favour.

Surround Yourself with Positivity 

Sometimes all you need to build your confidence is a change of environment. After all, your environment has a major influence on who you become so practice surrounding yourself with positive people who help uplift you instead of bringing you down.

Our bodies play an important part in carrying out all our day to day activities. So taking good care of them is crucial to function at our optimal levels and therefore build confidence. Therefore it is recommended to practice eating well, exercising and sleeping well too.

And lastly, be kind to yourself. There are enough challenges in everyday life to deal with so don’t become your own obstacle. Failing and making mistakes are an inevitable part of life, so don’t beat yourself up on it.
