Shekhinah is having an amazing month so far! Her video for Suited reached over 1 million views already after being on YouTube for only a month and if that was not enough, it was around the time she celebrated her 23rd birthday. She also debuted the track on Apple’s Beats 1 Radio the other day and today, her debut album, Rose Gold is out to massive praise.
Just a quick preview of the album reveals music that is not only well written and authentic but the sound is incredibly fresh. She takes us through several emotions and moods on Rose Gold from being utterly and insecurely in love on Suited, she shows us her spicy side on Any Way I Want and Thirsty. She asserts her independence as an African Queen on Power To She featuring Rouge and takes us on a jazzy trip on Rose Gold. This is one solid piece body of work.
She reveals true and honest emotions in the songs- good and bad. In one song in particular, she disses Major League and Wolfpack in such a sweet and melodic way, we can forgive it. “I don’t play in the major league. I know the brothers know that they are trying to run away from paying me” and “Call me what you want, I ain’t running with those dudes. I don’t got a wolfpack and nobody ever had my back.” Damn Shekhinah, we had no idea the spice ran so deep!
The album has had responses from people as distinguished and talented as Mi Casa’s J Something and Rouge and the respect she is receiving is dope.
No words for you @shekhinahd … you know how much of a fan I am of your work! Thank you for the new album! #RoseGold

Shekhinah’s album is so well thought out, produced and beautifully written. I’m so happy she didn’t rush with her release.
