In celebration of World Oceans Day on 8 June, SKYY® Vodka is honouring its deep connection to the ocean and its role in sustaining life on Earth, following the brand’s official announcement of a multi-year partnership with The Ocean Fund (TOF) that began in April this year.
The ocean, which covers over 70% of our planet, supports humanity and every other organism on the planet. South Africa’s oceans, renowned for their rich biodiversity, are home to a vast array of marine life, including unique species found nowhere else on Earth. World Oceans Day highlights the ocean’s essential role as the lungs of our planet, a major source of food and medicine, and a critical part of the biosphere. The partnership between SKYY® and TOF is inspired by a shared reverence for water, and aims to drive awareness, education, and action towards conserving and restoring our planet’s waterways.
TOF is the only community foundation dedicated to reversing the destruction in ocean environments around the world. Since its founding 20 years ago, TOF has moved over R1.5 billion towards the conservation and restoration of the ocean. To help support TOF’s efforts in conservation, SKYY is providing a donation to the “For the Blue Fund” with TOF and organising initiatives such as beach cleanups, educational workshops, and events.
