Sneaker Of The Week: Vans Reinvents Classic Era Design to Launch Stacked Footwear Collection
In this weeks #TrendAlert, we feature Skate heritage footwear and apparel brand Vans Off The Wall. The iconic skatewear brand has once again put comfort and style first by re-engineering one of the brand’s time-honoured designs, the Vans Era. This was done by elevating the shoe with a platform sole that features multiple layers of various materials that form an entirely new take on this classic silhouette. Using a platform sole that has Shark Teeth threads replacing the famous waffle shape threads and the clever use of translucent foxing tape, Vans has introduced a bold interpretation of fashion’s current exaggerated and chunky sneaker trend.
Vans’ original skate shoe, the Era, kicks off the collection and utilises the original multi-panel construction with cotton-canvas uppers available in two colour ways. Each model is accented with a platform upper; the white/checkerboard colourway sees an oversized checkerboard heel bumper beneath and translucent outsole with a stacked gum bumper at the toe.
A second instalment of the Era uses dual-tone purple and black uppers with pink and translucent sea green outsole that is highlighted with oversized confetti bumper. Each model in the Stacked Collection is finished with Vans Wafflesaw, a modern expression of the brand’s vulcanized outsole.
