Shelflife was approached by Fila USA to design a once off Mindblower sneaker and be part of the world’s largest sneaker collaboration yet, with over 50 brands and designers contributing globally. With only 100 pairs produced, releasing in pop-up spaces in Seoul, Tokyo, and New York as well as at Shelflife stores South Africa.
The original silhouette was released in 1995 and soon became well known for its warped logo. With the 90’s and chunky sneaker trend coming back strongly, 2018 was the perfect time to reinvent the classic. Shelflife is synonymous with graffiti and the color orange. More specifically, Pantone Orange 021C. Wanting to make ourselves visible to the rest of the globe using a similar concept of graffiti and standing out amongst all 50 collaborators, our concept was born!
The end result is a bright orange premium tumbled leather and Nubuck upper with foam cushioning and translucent rubber sole. The inner is a comfortable microfiber and the laces feature metal aglets. Shelflife logos are embossed on the front of the shoe and custom collaboration logos on back and tongue.
