We ask SOA Mattrix questions that touch on his latest album “Akani,” musical journey, challenging and upcoming projects.
This is what SOA had to say…
1. What first got you into music?
I come from a musical background. My father inspired me the most, he is the one that made me fall in love with music because he was a musician himself, together with my curiosity for wanting to know more music that’s out there in the world.
2. If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
I could just change the way people see and hear music, that it is not just the sound, but it is life and that there is something Godly about it, something unlocks or becomes “right” when we hear music, it makes us more than happy, but it also teaches us a lot.
3. How do you see ‘Akani’ contributing to the evolution of your artistry and the continuation of your musical journey?
One thing I can say is that I found the greatest inspiration of how to tell a story through music, of how to make good music and collaborate with other musicians within similar spirituality and so we connect, it was the “birth” of good connections.
4. What sets ‘Akani’ apart from your previous works and what new elements or perspectives did you incorporate into this album?
With this one I collaborated with a lot of musical players and that’s why the sound on the album is so rich and sounds very unique, a lot of great minds create greater music.
5. What do you enjoy most about creating music?
That as soon as I hit the studio, life just pauses, all the problems and distractions fade away and music brings out the peace that was hidden because life has its own challenges. I enjoy the peace it brings into my life.
6. What challenges have you faced in your musical career, and how did you overcome them?
I cannot mention enough, but the was a lot of them and the only way I overcame them is by listening, learning and being humble about it all.
7. How has the music industry changed since you began your career?
Yes it has, but a lot of it changed on how people are now receiving the music being recorded every day and the influence it has on them on a daily basis, the language, the dance culture and also how it’s performed.
8. As ‘Akani’ represents a significant chapter in your musical journey, how do you see this album contributing to your growth as an artist?
This album will definitely set me apart from the other artists because of how unique it sounds and the kind of effect it has on people.
9. What’s next for you?
Pushing more of AKANi & More and More music of cause, throughout the whole I’ll just be dealing with exclusive content going together with new unreleased music.
