Idols SA judge, radio presenter and choreographer, Somizi Mhlongo has gone on Instagram to post 2 videos where he blasts Grace Bible Church for being against homosexuality.
The radio presenter, who is a proud gay man, stormed out of a church service yesterday after the pastor called homosexuality “sinful” and “disgusting”. This offended Mhlongo to the point where he posted a series of videos where he shared his disgust at the sermon by the guest pastor from “somewhere in Africa”.
“I’m not going to sit there and listen to someone offending me. This is who I am, I am a gay man. Get it straight into your skull. My soul is alright with God…let me deal with my soul with my God…”, Mhlongo said.
The radio presenter also posted a second video where he made a plea to churches to exclude gay people from their churches. He also stressed that they must come out and rebuke homosexuality, “…gay people must not come to our church”, he said.
“Say it so that we know, because we go to church to speak to our God whom I believe accepts me for who I am, whom I believe created me the way I am.”
Mhlongo also emphasised that he did not choose to be gay and that God created him that way. “I did not wake up and say ‘I’m gay today’. I believe that God created me the way I am. God loves me the way I am. What the other people say about me is none of my business,” he said.
This topic has caused major national uproar as everybody is weighing in on the fairness of the church and is calling on the religious fraternity to take another look at the rights against homosexuality. Take a look at some of the responses who posted under the hashtag #GraceBibleChurch.
