Soul Star Leaves Soulistic Music

He now releases music independently through his company Kya Soul Records.

One of Black Coffee’s most trusted musical friends and go-to vocalists Soul Star finally lets the world into his solo career. After years of writing music, featuring on other artists’ projects he has finally released his own music with a banging single Ungowami featuring Samthing Soweto and Fka Mash.

This is also a big milestone for this soulful crooner as he releases his music independently through his company Kya Soul Records.

Born Velaphi Sylvester Mtimkulu in Sebokeng, Vaal. Soul Star has never dreamt of nothing else but making music that moves people.

I love love, I make love music, I want people to fall in love, fight in love, tell love stories through song, and that is really what my music is about. Love

He says.

Soul Star’s musical pedigree afforded him an opportunity to musically direct a sold-out show held at TicketPro Dome (Black Coffee’s Music is King Concert), where he also conducted the choir. He performed his biggest hit song (which he also co-produced) Rock My World, alongside Black Coffee and a 24-piece orchestra Africa Rising Concert at the Moses Mabhida stadium. He also directed the music and sang on the Ballantine’s advert with Black Coffee and the Human orchestra.

Further on, he worked on the Lux’s advert soundtrack We Are More with Black Coffee and Ribatone, which features Lira, Nhlanhla Nciza and Moneoa. Some of the features includes My Sunshine (Culoe De Song), Another Man (Black Motion), She Goes (Heavy-K), Ndiphendule (Da Capo), Thembalami (DJ Merlon and Mondli Ngcobo) including the remix with the five time Grammy award winning group (Ladysmith Black Mambazo), Nqo (Lemon & Herb), Ivili (Boddhi Satva) as well as Wela (Djeff).

Ungowami is available on all digital platforms.
