In the midst of a bustling journey on a bus from Brits, a spark ignited the birth of an innovative concept – “2woBunnies“. It all began when a close friend opened a new club spot, sparking a conversation about the untouched potential in South African Amapiano and the broader entertainment as well as artist branding landscapes. The Bunnies saw it fit to create a Daft Punk duo and as they say the rest is history.

1. Can you share with us how the 2woBunnies duo was formed and what inspired your name?
The idea of 2woBunnies was birthed in the back of a bus travelling from a place called Brits where a friend of ours had just opened a new club spot , we were discussing what the South African Amapiano space is missing well in general the entertainment space and branding of artists. We wore the masks as accessories before it’s inception and we just thought what would a piano version of Daft Punk look like, let there be no face but let the image and music speak for itself and that’s how 2woBunnies came about and the name is pretty obvious where it derived from.
2. What attracted you both to the Amapiano genre, and what sets your sound apart from other Amapiano artists?
We both from different musical backgrounds so we bonded over the sound when piano started to come to the forefront during 2020 lockdown and the love for the genre was instant. We have a more hard hitting piano sound we try to mix a lot of dance oriented sounds, a fusion if you will to create something spectacular filled with moments you can remember.
3. How do you typically collaborate on creating music together? What is your creative process like?
We both easy going people so everything has to feel as organic and authentic as possible, the work is not forced but made with genuine intent and care for the genre so we just let everything flow and collaborate with other artists and producers cause what’s better than 2 minds? 10 minds!
4. How do you see the Amapiano genre evolving in the future, and what role do you hope to play in its growth?
We see piano going mainstream internationally as in competing on the billboards charts Tyla has shown us that as South Africans it’s possible to get there so there is no limit to where this thing can go but we hope to be at the forefront of the movement taking the sound all over the world and burning up dance floors on big stages essentially create a long lasting legacy.
5. Can you tell us about a memorable performance or moment in your career that stands out to you?
There are too many memorable moments to count and for those moments to have happened in the space of close to 2 years we can only be grateful to God for what he’s given us and how this thing has changed our lives for the better.
We brand everything we do with some smart twist on the word bunnies so we can create our own universe. – 2woBunnies
6. What are some of the challenges you face as a DJ duo, and how do you overcome them?
2 minds mean that there are always 2 different ideas and approaches to things so the only way to come to a conclusion on things is to have clear cut communication and what makes that easier is that we are friends before 2woBunnies so we can be open with each other and learn from each other because at the end of the day we both have a common goal.
7. Taking into account, the 2woBunnies brand, how do you engage with your fans and build a community around your music?
We brand everything we do with some smart twist on the word bunnies so we can create our own universe that our fan base can live in we have plans on expanding our universe even more outside of the parties so that our fans can constantly engage with us even if it’s outside of the music/dance floor.
8. When did you decide on the masks and who designs them?
We were wearing them the day we were having those discussions in the back of the bus so we just pointed them out in the discussion and thought it would be a cool idea to wear them while we play.
9. What does success look like for the 2woBunnies?
Headlining international dance and music festivals around the world, the accolades that every musician wants ticked off you know, to add just creating our universe that can live long after we have retired and married the love of our lives. We want it all there’s no limit to the level of success we want for 2woBunnies.
10. How are the 2woBunnies perceived internationally?
The people love us they love the idea, they love the look, they love the music play they love the package as a whole we bring a different twist to the piano scene so people are always excited to experience the moment with us.
11. What are your plans and goals for the future as a Du duo, and what can we expect from 2woBunnies next?
More music, crazier sets, crazy drip more curated shows just expect us to blow your minds in the near future we are taking this thing all the way and paving our own road to success. RABBIT HOLE COMING SOON!
