This week on The Radar, we introduce to you an alternative artist from Cape Town, and she goes by the name Soda. She made it to our radar through her amazing work as her latest drop attracted us to wanting to hear more of her.
The mellow sound had us craving for more as she laced each single with an out of this world vocal performance. You will draw more to the context of each song as they weigh a certain form of significance and one can initially resonate to each melody and. We got to sit down with the talented individual over the past week and this is what she had to share.
What lead you to doing Music?
“My love for music all began back in primary school as I participated in various musical activities such as the choir at school and plays. I then went on to going to High School and doing the very similar thing. I always had love for music throughout my childhood upbringing. I then recorded my first single when I got into university as I met people with equipment to record.”
What are you currently doing aside of Music?
“I am currently doing my fourth year in Bachelor of Business Science by UCT.”
What’s your creative process like?
“At first, I wrote music just for myself in a sense that I would write music and sing it to my family and these songs would be based on things that I have no knowledge of such as heartbreak at that time. I wrote my first song at the age of 10 and since then I have continued to write. This has allowed me to improve my writing style as currently I write about things that many can resonate to.”
What does your name stand for?
“My stage name initially stands for ‘Seeking Only Daring Anamonics.”
What’s your single Y.C.M about?
“The single is broken down as an acronym of ‘You Changed Me’. This song represents my current relationship with music and the impact music has had towards my life.”
What can we expect from you in the next coming months?
“I am planning on releasing my first body of work this month as well as visuals for my single ‘Y.C.M’ and hopefully more singles to come.”
