Anele Dhlomo is a rapper and producer under the moniker Nele (also stylised as Nele Worldwide). He is a 23-year-old South African musician and producer from Johannesburg South. After the passing of his older brother, NELE decided to fully focus on his music. The result being the successful release of his four singles; Groove, TOR, Columbine Drive and the most recent, Hot Shot.
His musical style is influenced by a range of genres, including traditional Hip Hop, Soul and UK Drill. NELE credits Kanye West as his muse because of his ability to break boundaries and pioneer new music. This translates in his contemporary Hip-Hop sound which spans a range of sounds incorporating distorted drums and ambient melancholic melodies.
His latest single, Hot Shot is a high tempo track seeping with defiance. In the song we see an eruption of carefully curated rhymes, directed to a series of tweets, that dared to undermine the lyrical talent of South side rappers.
The music video is described by Director Kid Kadi as “a fast passed, gritty visual rendition of the challenges Nele has to go through as he aims at taking the ‘hotshot’ position in the industry.”
NELE’s upcoming EXILE LP features his vocals, production and instrumentation.
