After taking to social media to announce the exciting news of their showcase on the New York Fashion Week runways, MaXhosa Africa delivers a spectacular fashion show.
The show, which was presented virtually yesterday, was a burst of fresh and vibrant ideas and colours. From the minute the designs were presented, viewers were wowed by the unique and interesting use of various fabrics, colour palettes and prints. The collection certainly explored a another side of the brand that is far more expressive and experimental which was exciting to see. Some familiar faces that modeled some of the designs include, local celebrities, Unathi Nkayi, Riky Rick, Maps Maponyane as well as Warren Masemola.
“The theme of the collection was titled ‘Ingumangaliso Imisebenzi KaThixo’ which was a song written by the designer’s late grandfather Mike Ngxokolo which simply means ‘God’s work is so wonderful that we don’t even acknowledge how powerful it is. During lockdown, in the midst of sadness, I felt like it’s very important to give people hope with my craft. I love colour so I wanted to showcase happiness so that people would feel very excited about summer and show that happiness is the new luxury.”
