Top 3 Underground Artists Of The Week!
Published 4 years ago by

Our country is filled with talented artists who exist in what we call “the underground”. These are the guys whose music has not been made known to the world yet but it doesn’t mean that they are less talented.

As we all know, good music is something that can never run out of style and likewise, new talent is something that can never be old. Let’s take a look at the up and coming artists who made the list this week.

Knock Out Gang

Knock Out Gang are a Hip-Hip/Motswako group from Boitekong village near Rustenburg in the North West province. The group consists of four members; Itumeleng Tlhale, Vuyo Mtonga, Donald Modise and Thapelo Mphahlele, who are rappers, writers and producers.

Music was a gateway for them to stay away from drugs and crime and to actually put Rustenburg on the map. Their name, Knock Out Gang, was inspired by their belief that they’ll walk through any obstacle thrown at them and knock every one of them down.

Their debut single, Re Sharpo Ka Wena is making rounds on social media and the masses are loving it. The track will officially drop tomorrow and the group shoots the music video – with it, they plan to show off their city’s beauty the talent that Rustenburg has hidden for years.

Malibongwe Handsome Hansen is a hip hop artist who goes by the stage name, Masia. Born in Durban and raised in Pongola, the 18-year-old started doing music around the age of nine but didn’t take it seriously until the age of 15 when his friends and those who’d never heard him rap encouraged him to take it seriously.

Masia has a number of hit bangers under his sleeves, these include; Ocean Eyes, Ready 2 Fly and Tales Of The Digger, to name a few. The song, Tales Of The Digger also has a music video, which is currently playlisted on Channel O TV and is getting positive remarks from critics and fans alike.

The track is about a girl he is dating, who only seems to want money and fame – it’s a Trap joint with an almost comical vibe to it. His mixtape, Life Is A Jury, will be dropping in March this year. Link up with him on Twitter for updates on his music.
