Every now and again the industry needs fresh blood to shake things up and bring freshness and new perspective using their music. That is why we always want to shine the spotlight on up and coming artists and those who have the potential to rip the industry apart. Check out who we found this week!
Chealex Mpanza
Zamokwakhe Charles Mpanza, known to his fans as Chealex Mpanza, is a rising South African multi-talented emcee whose talents range from being a rapper, script and songwriter, model and an aspiring director, amongst others. He was born and bred in Eshowe, Kwa-Zulu Natal and has proven that he is on the come up and is doing it all by himself. He manages himself and also does his own AR and PR.
Chealex has been in the industry for a while now and has proven this by having his music playlisted on radio stations such as 5 FM’s The Stir Up by DJ MsCosmo, YFM, Tru FM, Uj FM, Thetha FM, RmR and The Vibe FM from Nigeria, just to name a few. He has also appeared on public platforms such as YFM, Vow FM and Jozi FM for interviews.
Chealex Mpanza began making music when he was only 13 years old. He moved to Durban in 2003 and joined Kwai Hop Flavour group. They moved to Johannesburg for a promising record deal. The deal never materialized though and they were forced to stay in the streets of Joburg. This didn’t defer his dream, he ended making moves in his career by making various television appearances. He has also shared the stage with a number of artists including Nasty C, Zonke, Red Button and Bucie, to name just a few.
He dropped his kwaito inspired track, That’s Me earlier this year and that got him much acclaim and attention. The track is about him trying to impress a girl he likes and he promises her the moon and the stars. This track is dope and reminds me of Zola when he was in his prime.
You can get in touch with Chealex on his Facebook and Twitter account. You can also listen to his music on Soundcloud.

RapSinger
Wynand Madidimalo Monyeseala, also known as RapSinger, is a 23-year-old talented rapper with a passion for music. The UNISA Public Relations student was born and raised in Ivory Park (Midrand) and started rapping as a hobby in 2006. Coming from a disadvantaged township such as Ivory Park, it was a bit hard for RapSinger to pursue his dream of becoming a musician. With little knowledge he had to start from the bottom by recording low quality music with his friends with the hopes that he will one day make it.
These days he makes music that lands up on reputable American online radio stations. His song, Heiya, taken from his mixtape, The Return, was played on an American show, Voiceless Music Radio on Floempireradio.com (Now moved to WVMR.net as The Pulse Of New York), on 31 July 2015.
He just released a 9 Track EP with which he aims to inspire the youth of South Africa to never give up on their dreams no matter how tough the situation may be. With reference to a mythical bird (The Phoenix) he believes everyone has to die slowly inside in order to come back in a stronger form of him/herself.

Vumza CPT
Vumza Cpt, born Vumani Ngilana and known among his peers as Vumza, is a Cape Town based artist. He was born and bred in a small town called Tsomo in the squatters of the Eastern Cape Province. He didn’t start off as a rapper, but as a soccer player who did incredibly well in the sport. He learned to balance his love for writing and the sport until, well, he chose rap as his first love.
His style is a fusion of poetic lyricism and conscious word play that contain within it elements of storytelling, which is inspired mostly by his surroundings and experiences from childhood. In 2014, he met up with fellow rappers and began recording and sharpen his rapping and writing skills. He states artists such as Joey Badass, Kendrick Lamar, Khuli Chana and Ice Prince among others.
He just dropped his song, Confessions featuring fellow rapper, Genre. The track is a smooth love song with a complimentary beat. The mood of the song is not too complicated and is an easy listen.
Get in touch with him on his Facebook account for more on his music.
