The Touch of Bling brand was founded in 2010 by Thabo Khumalo. He is a young self-taught fashion designer and entrepreneur from Zola, a township in Soweto.
Thabo attained his skills while assisting his seamstress mother with her business and he realised that he had a talent to create.
His remarkable talent and creativity has enabled him to take part in numerous fashion shows such as the South African Fashion Week, the Soweto Fashion Week, the Mpumalanga Fashion Week to name a few.
He has been afforded the opportunity to dress A-list South African celebrities that include Pearl Thusi, Black Motion,
Thapelo Mokwena, Amanda du Pont, Eric Macheru, Nandi Mngoma, Pearl Modiadie, Nkululeko Tshirumbula, Simphiwe Dana, Pabi Moloi and many others.
Thabo has dressed and styled Mzansi’s sexiest 2015 Sowetan live calendar celebrities. In 2012, this young designer worked with Previdar, an online magazine, designing for their cover celebrities.
He has also done styling for television shows and music video of Phynofino Nigerian artist. He has been profiled on different media platforms.
His has talent and creativity has earned an opportunity to supply Burgundy – well-known couture. In 2014 Thabo entered the SA Fashion Weak menswear competition and became the 1st runner-up which meant he got his own show for SAFW Spring/Summer 2016 happening in March 2015.
He will be sharing the runway with well-known designers including Roman Handt, Paledi Segapo, Gert-Johan Coetzee, Craig Jacobs, Ephraim Molingoane and many more.
He is currently doing an internship at Roman Handt – a well-known fashion designer – to learn the ins and outs of the fashion business. Roman Handt is also his mentor. He looks up to designers such as David Tlale, Thula Sindi and Shaldon Kopman.
