#TrapTuesday: Daniel Rep Drops New EP, L.I.B.D.A.S [Phase 1]
Published 3 years ago by

We adore the #TrapTuesday feature because it allows us to catch up on the dopest artists which are bubbling under. Today we feature multi-talented rapper, Daniel Rep who recently released his EP, L.I.B.D.A.S [Phase 1].

Daniel Rep was born and bred in Middleburg and he is an up and coming rapper, producer and founder of Verified Beatz. Daniel has been at it for a minute now and released his first ever project titled The Fear Project in 2011. This was followed by a two disk mixtape, Almost Done and Stories Never Told which was released in 2012.

Daniel’s greatest work to date though is the EP he released last year titled R.EP. This one featured a number of international features including Ace from Nigeria and LBlaq from Kenya. Plus he has lended his production talents to L-tido’s latest album.

His first 2018 project, Lately I’ve Been Dreaming About Success (L.I.B.D.A.S) is intended to take us through the phases. “… I hope to give you a better understanding of who I am and the people that inspire me on a daily”. He continues to say that this EP documents phase one of his plans: “Road to Success Dreams don’t die.”

The 12 minute EP s a mesh up of about 3 tracks which see Daniel let us into what demons he is fighting and it gets really personal. The dope thing about this project is that Daniel actually has something to say. Not everybody has to rap on boom bap beats for their message to be deep and relevant- Daniel does it on very experimental beats.

He lets us into the things which plague him like his intense hunger for success and the need to constantly stay on his grind. His style almost reminds me of Zingah and what he is on! Plus him playing around with his different sounds is refreshing.
