The fresh sound of S.A music is slowly emerging and artists such as Cozmik make it easy to fall in love with the artform again. The young rapper recently launched his debut mixtape titled Pusha Man.
Cozmik is part of a refreshing new wave of young South African Hip-Hop artists, mostly highly ambitious and hardworking teenagers coming through and breathing new life to the scene.
Pusha Man allows us to get intimate with Cozmik’s thoughts and struggles
He has had a busy couple of years building his brand and making sure that he gets the attention he deserves. His latest offering, Pusha Man is a 13 track effort where Cozmik invites us into his most intimate thoughts. We get to see what he struggles with. We get to see what frustrates and causes him conflict but also brings him joy and purpose. And music is at the centre of it all.
He said this about the offering:
“My debut project, Pusha Man is an introduction to me. It’s heavily themed with aspirations, my dreams, my reality, relationships etc. It’s a capsule capturing a moment of time in my life.”
The mixtape which features two R&B sensations Rowlene and OhGooch who make on the joints Ain’t Letting Go and Temptations respectively. The two vocalists are exceptional and bring a different energy on the songs they are featured on. They bring a mellow aspect to the music while he goes ham on joints where he is riding solo. By far, Pusha Man, Temptations and Hustle Up are firm favourites.
From the mixtape Cozmik has landed numerous radio playlistings for his singles along with two music videos from the mixtape also being playlisted on MTVBase and TRACE Africa. Pretty impressive.
