Every Tuesday we bring you your weekly dose of the freshest Trap songs that we can find for our #TrapTuesday feature. This week’s featured artist is Febuary who is a young, up and coming artist based in Johannesburg. Febuary is a 21 year old trap soul/contemporary R&B artist. He is an extremely talented singer, rapper, producer, writer and director based in Johannesburg.
His style is said to be a fusion of pop, downtempo house, neo R&B and Caribbean elements. The sound is truly refreshing.
Febuary has made an impact on to radio with his newly released debut single “Nikki”, with the song grabbing attention and receiving early support from the likes of DJ Capital, DJ Slim, comedic-turned-rapper Okay Wasabi, 5fm’s Stephane Be, Alex FM’s Siya and DJ Milkshake just to name a few.
The track is a marriage of trap elements and some soulful and soothing vocals that are a catch between singing and rapping. The young chap has a really good ear when it comes to music. He produced the beat and I wouldn’t be surprised if he shoots, directs and edits the music video himself, should it come out.
The track is about a Nikki, a girl he was once with but she messed around on him: “I already know, what do you take me for? I’m not the only one. I don’t believe that”. This is a well written joint for those self-reflective moments.
Check him out on his social media for updates on what he is working on.
“Nikki” is currently available on iTunes, Shazaam, Tidal, Spotify and enjoying airplay on a number of national stations including 5FM. The single is taken off his upcoming debut EP that’s set to be released towards the end of the year. – Adapted from Press Release.
