For as long as there is fashion and its fanatics, then you can bet there will always be trends. The latest fad trickling into mainstream fashion is the art of layering short skirts over long shirt dresses.
Now layering is nothing new, but this kind of mix is different and may be only for the brave few…who can pull it off well. The layered shirt dress and skirt look has been seen on international street walks, runways and is similarly endorsed by fashionistas and ballsy stars such as Rihanna.
The trend has been touted as the “Apron Skirt” trend and sees the wearer donning a skirt over a long shirt dress. Others have gone as far as wearing their skirts over ankle length dresses and even slacks.
On the home ground, newly wed, Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa, now Mrs. Black Coffee, is one of the first few Mzansi celebs and fashionistas to take to the risqué trend.
As we know, fashion sadly discriminates and one thing may look good on one person and be the complete opposite on the next. Do you think this particular trend should be for everyone who takes a liking to it?
Or should it just be reserved for the celebrities and runway models who are allowed to get away with anything and everything on the fashion front; including impractical fashion looks?
