Charlamagne Tha God defends MacG amidst the Ari Lennox Podcast & Chill interview 

MacG is once again in the news and this time around it’s on the Breakfast Club with Charlamagne Tha God, Angela Yee and DJ Envy. On Monday’s instalment of the show, Charlamagne Tha God defended MacG amidst the Ari Lennox interview that caused a stir over the weekend.

The trio discussed the Podcast & Chill interview, specifically the part that had the internet up in arms. During a recent episode of the podcast, MacG asked the Pop singer: “Is someone fucking you good right now?“. This shocked Ari Lennox who was visibly uncomfortable with the line of questioning. This led to her declaring that she will never do interviews again. Furthermore, she requested to be dropped from the label, Dreamville.

“One thing I wont do is judge MacG. At one point, I was a MacG, I was one of those boys. So I would rather counsel the man instead of cancel him. This is a teachable moment for young media personalities,” he explains.

Although Charlamagne mentions that the part MacG asked is not what Ari Lennox said in the song, he defended him by saying that it’s not what you say but how you say it. “Let me be the first to tell you, it’s not what you say, but how you say it. And i think if it is based on something an artist said in a song, it’s fair game. But to delivery still has to be correct,” he says. 

MacG has since stood by his question, claiming that he was not wrong since he refresnced Ari Lennox’s Tiny Desk performance. He also claimed that her team were on the call and they never once asked for that part of the interview to be removed before going live.
