We were recently introduced to lively and vibrant up and coming duo, Phresh Clique. The duo is originally from Cape Town moved to Johannesburg to pursue their music career and it seems like the move has paid off.
The duo worked on Moozlie’s debut album on a joint called Sifunukwazi and we were absolutely enthralled by their charming nature. They share with us how the collaboration with Moozlie came about as well as a little about their latest EP, Take Off.
They recently released an EP titled Take Off. The 7 track project features their hit single Umlilo Freestyle as well as Moozlie, Slikour and Ms Cosmo.
Their sound is undeniably uniquely South African as it is inspired by Kwaito music in the golden age. Artists such as Brenda Fassie and Boom Shaka come to mind when listening to their music. They say:
“So we make a sound called Kwai-Hop. It’s a mixture of Kwaito and Hip hop. So we’re trying to, not even trying, we are keeping it authentic as South Africans.”
Link up with them on social media and peep their newly released EP titled Take Off below!
WATCH JR on the success of his live sessions & partnering with MTV
The highly anticipated Season 2 of JR’s Feel Good Live Sessions (FGLS) is set to be bigger than its debut season. Founder and curator of the sought-after live performance YouTube channel – rapper and record producer JR – has announced a partnership with Martell Cognac and a broadcast deal with MTV Base that will bring the live sessions to even more music lovers.
We are very excited about the developments for Season 2 and the mix bag of goodies lined up for lovers of the art behind the music
We were looking to grow the FGLS brand with like-minded brands for our 2nd season and I’m personally thrilled that Martell Cognac, one of the world’s great cognac houses shared our vision of bringing more engagement with featured artists and profiling not only their music but the creative process that goes into producing and performing world-class music. We are privileged that MTV Base Africa saw it equally important that the sessions are syndicated to a larger audience beyond our online reach
