Quite a lot happened this past weekend and it would be a damn shame to keep all this news to ourselves. So we have compiled the top stories this weekend for your reading pleasure.
We have already covered the much publicised slap that has divided the nation, but let’s revisit it. Black Coffee slapped AKA’s Road Manager, Tshiamo Letshwene, for disturbing his set and social media was lit after that! AKA was mad as hell and ready to get on stage to defend his manager’s honour, meanwhile, Tshiamo opened up about why they interrupted Black Coffee’s set. Black Coffee later apologised for the slap.
Another one who got slapped was popular radio presenter, DJ Sbu. According to Sunday World, DJ Sbu was reportedly beaten by security guards at the Major League Gardens Spring Party last week Saturday. He also sustained some injuries to his head; the beating was so bad that he and his crew could not perform as they left the event soon after the alleged assault. DJ Sbu confirmed that he was assaulted but that he didn’t want to press charges as he wanted to protect the reputation of the Major League twins and their event.
Blaklez has snubbed the SA Hip Hop Awards (SAHHA) because of their inability to recognise his worth as a musician. According to Sunday Sun, a source has said: “Blaklez has paid his dues and he feels some award events are pushing their own agendas. He gets support from the industry, but he’s yet to get his big break and this frustrates him.” Blaklez is not the only rapper in the history of the awards to snub the awards, in 2014 it was Cashtime rappers, K.O and Kid X. Last year, Cassper Nyovest spoke out against the awards for their failure to recognise his accomplishments as an independent game changer to the hip hop industry.
House music duo, Black Motion have gotten under fire for allegedly ditching fans at a event they were supposed to perform at in Bloemfontein. They were supposed to perform at Thoughts Lounge last Saturday. This is apparently not their first time they have ditched their fans without any explanation. According to Sunday Sun, a source claims: “They’ve missed two shows in four weeks. I don’t know if it’s due to logistics from their side or if they overbook themselves.”
Moeti Tsiki better known as Mo Flava was not afraid to call them into order and he tweeted that he hopes the guys from Black Motion will apologise for ditching their fans. DJ Tuxedo who co-hosted the event with Mo Flava confirmed that Mo Flava had paid for Black Motion to be perform at the event and they didn’t pitch.
The issue with data in our country is becoming a big deal. Tbo Touch is advocating for data fees to fall (#datamustfall) and in the meanwhile millions of South African’s are feeling the heat. One such person who is dealing with plenty is Metro FM talk show host, Criselda Dudumashe, formerly Kananda. The on air personality took to her social media: “Dear Vodacom, I’m waiting for the investigation which was supposed to (be complete) seven days ago. How did my data get to R43 000?DataMustFall #Leaturahle”. According to Sunday Sun, she was able to settle the amount to keep her phone connected. A representative from Vodacom was able to help Criselda and the bill was reduced to R13 000. That’s a relief!
