Zahara continues her winning ways, after receiving a nod in the category for Best Afro Pop Album at the nominations announcement event in Boksburg. Winning this award would bring the Songstress to a shared total of 18 SAMA awards between her three albums.

Recorded in Johannesburg with Mojalefa ‘Mjakes’ Thebe at the desk and a two features from International, Grammy award winning, Jazz Legend, Kirk Whalum- the album titled: ‘Mgodi’ which has already proven to be popular amongst the masses- reached certified ‘Gold’ status within six hours from release.

I’ve always said that I make music to share my story and hopefully touch lives in the process. Receiving a nomination is nice because it means that my peers acknowledge the work that went into the project. However, It is a little bitter-sweet for me, because I’m up against my mentor and friend- the late Robbie Malinga
