Zonke is set to wrap up Youth Month celebrations at the Old Mutual Music in the Gardens concert at the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens on Sunday, 30 June. A host of hot new acts supported by rising stars across a number of musical genre’s from rock and pop to house and jazz will brighten up the gardens this year including Prime Circle, MiCasa and Mafikizolo. “We are so excited to bring back the Old Mutual Music in the Gardens series for 2013. And, to open it in Johannesburg with the talented Zonke is even more special. The Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens is the only place in South Africa where the beauty of South African music can be enjoyed amongst the succulent rockery gardens, cycad gardens, water gardens, fern trails, arboretum, Geological Garden, People’s Plant Garden, Birds and Butterfly Garden, Waterwise garden and the informative Children Garden.
The historical Witpoortjie Falls form the centre piece of this Garden has been voted the best picnic spot in Gauteng for nine years in a row. Music fans are encouraged to come early, bring picnic chairs and blankets and spend the day in natural splendour. There is a restaurant in the gardens and a supervised children’s area.
